Best Cold Calling and Outbound Agencies for M&A Acquirers (2026)

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Two kinds of agency will call business owners about selling to you. Generalist SDR agencies (SalesHive, Launch Leads, Callbox) bring calling capacity and will run your script. M&A-native firms (CAPTARGET, Spearhead, Calder Capital, Ascent Target and Axia, our firm) build acquisition target lists and contact owners on a buyer's behalf as their main line of work. Choose on four things: where the callers sit, who owns the data, whether you can hear the calls, and whether the firm also works for sellers.

Every fact below comes from the firm's own website as of October 2026. We list no prices.

How we chose

We kept eight agencies that run outbound calling for clients, market to investors or exist to source acquisitions, and whose sites confirm channels, staffing and client type. Where a site said nothing on a field, the entry reads "not stated." Axia is our firm. We gave it the same fields as every other entry and did not rank anyone.

Generalist SDR and calling agencies

1. SalesHive

  • Who it's for: B2B companies across 47+ industries, from SaaS to logistics. Its homepage does not mention M&A.
  • Model: "one flat monthly fee" with "no setup fees and no long-term contracts."
  • Channels: cold calling and email.
  • Who calls: "Our core SDR team is 100% US-based. We also offer cost-effective offshore calling teams as a separate option."
  • Best for: acquirers with their own list and script who want US-based dialing capacity.

2. Launch Leads

  • Who it's for: B2B companies. Its industry menu includes M&A, private equity and investors.
  • Model: "A monthly retainer based on campaign scope and target volume," which the firm sets against pay-per-lead pricing.
  • Channels: "A multi-channel cadence across phone, email, and LinkedIn."
  • Who calls: "Dedicated sales development reps (SDRs) trained on your category." The site does not say where they sit. Launch Leads says it has booked B2B appointments "since 2009."
  • Best for: buyers who want a dedicated rep on a multi-channel cadence and will supply the M&A context.

3. Callbox

  • Who it's for: B2B companies in "50+ industries," serving "clients in more than 50 countries."
  • Model: "Our core model is subscription-based," and Callbox says it can design custom pricing.
  • Channels: phone, email, LinkedIn and social, chat, events and webinars.
  • Who calls: a dedicated team per client, including SDRs. Callbox lists offices "in the US, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Colombia, and the Philippines," and it pairs "AI voice agents" for "high-volume transactional calls" with human SDRs.
  • Best for: cross-border mandates that need multilingual or multi-region coverage. Ask which callers, and which AI agents, would reach your owners.

M&A-native outbound firms

4. CAPTARGET

  • Who it's for: private equity, corporate buyers, independent sponsors, family offices and search funds.
  • Model: "Flat monthly subscriptions packages" and "No success fees, ever." Calling comes as an add-on or a standalone service.
  • Channels: owner warm calling, off-market email and banker/broker coverage.
  • Who calls: a "100% US-based calling team" of "Senior, MBA-trained callers with deal context." Outreach "runs under your alias," and the client keeps the "owner targets, all messaging, and all campaign data." CAPTARGET's site says it "has joined SourceCo."
  • Best for: buyers who want senior US callers and data ownership spelled out.

5. Spearhead Corporate Development

  • Who it's for: "private equity investors and strategic acquirers."
  • Model: not published on its Corporate Development as a Service page.
  • Channels: "phone, LinkedIn, email, snail mail," picked per target.
  • Who calls: "Both up-and-coming (2+ years of deal experience) and experienced deal-makers staff up our Origination team." Its deal-makers have "tangible connections (e.g. language, roots) to the regions they call into," and the site lists Toronto, Cape Town and Bengaluru.
  • Best for: corp dev teams and sponsors who want origination added to an existing deal function. Ask which office staffs your mandate.

6. Calder Capital

  • Who it's for: "corporate, family office, private equity, and individual entrepreneurial buyers."
  • Model: a work fee with a lead guarantee. Gold clients "are guaranteed 10 introductions with sellers that meet their criteria (or they don’t pay)," and the guarantee "requires a sufficient pool of pursuable prospects."
  • Channels: "We contact each owner seven times through cold calling and emailing within two weeks."
  • Who calls: Calder's own staff; the firm says it completes "all of the work in-house."
  • Best for: buyers who want the same firm to run the calls and stay on through valuation, LOI and negotiation. Calder also runs sell-side advisory.

7. Ascent Target

  • Who it's for: "private equity firms and corporate acquirers across Europe, North America and Australia."
  • Model: not stated on the buy-side page.
  • Channels: "Target outreach: finding and connecting with the key decision makers." The page names no channels.
  • Who calls: not stated. Ascent, a London-based Langcliffe International subsidiary, also acts as a "white label outsourced buyer research and origination partner" for M&A advisers on live mandates.
  • Best for: cross-border buyers who want targets in the UK, Europe or Australia.

8. Axia Growth

  • Who it's for: search funds, independent sponsors, PE firms and strategics buying companies of roughly $1M to $10M EBITDA.
  • Model: built per mandate. Pricing is shared on a call.
  • Channels: calling, cold email, handwritten letters and social DMs, plus text where a number is live.
  • Who calls: US-based callers Axia selects and trains, with "Five attempts per owner, ever."
  • Best for: buyers who want a named, US-based caller. Tradeoffs: the callers are trained undergraduates, Axia started in 2024, and new callers work a sell-side campaign first.

What should you check before hiring a cold calling agency?

Ask every agency these six questions, and get the answers in writing:

  1. Where does each caller on my mandate sit? US, offshore, or a mix. A US-based core team can still leave room for an offshore option.
  2. Who writes the script, and can I approve it? An owner call about a sale needs a different opener than a software demo. See our cold calling playbook for M&A.
  3. Can I hear the calls? None of the eight sites says whether clients get recordings. According to the Digital Media Law Project, federal law allows recording with one party's consent, but some states require the consent of every party on the call.
  4. Who owns the list, notes and dispositions when we stop? CAPTARGET states this in writing. Ask the others.
  5. Do you work the sell side? If the firm represents sellers or runs buyer outreach for advisers, ask how it keeps that work apart from your targets.
  6. What counts as a qualified meeting? Get the definition before the first invoice. Our guide on what to look for in M&A appointment setting covers the bar.

Frequently asked questions

Can a generalist SDR agency call business owners about an acquisition?

Yes, if you give it the list, the script and the qualification bar. Generalist agencies such as SalesHive, Launch Leads and Callbox are built for B2B sales meetings. An owner conversation about selling a company is a different call, so plan to train the reps on your thesis and review their calls.

Does it matter if callers are offshore?

It matters to some owners, and to your brand. Ask where every caller on your mandate sits. SalesHive offers a US-based core SDR team and a separate offshore option; Callbox lists offices on four continents, including the Philippines; CAPTARGET and our firm, Axia, state that their callers are US-based.

Can I get recordings of calls made to my targets?

Ask before you sign, because none of the eight agency sites we checked says. Recording also has legal limits: federal law allows recording with one party's consent, but some states require every party to agree. Your agency should know which rule applies to each owner it dials.

Who owns the target list and call notes?

Get it in the contract. CAPTARGET states that you retain the alias, owner targets, messaging and campaign data. The other seven sites we checked do not address it, so ask.

Why does it matter whether an agency also works the sell side?

A firm that also represents sellers, or runs buyer outreach for M&A advisers, may talk to the same owners on another client's behalf. Calder Capital runs a sell-side advisory practice, Ascent Target offers outreach for advisers on live sell-side mandates, and our firm, Axia, starts new callers on a sell-side campaign. Ask how the work stays separate.
